Dr. Calvin Sun is a lifelong New Yorker, seasoned emergency physician, and proven frontline leader running for Manhattan Borough President.
As an emergency room doctor in our City’s safety-net hospitals, Calvin has treated the most vulnerable New Yorkers, almost always while fighting for their lives.
But in recent years, while Calvin served on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, our elected leaders prioritized politics over saving lives, and people suffered.
To treat this poisoning of public health, Calvin will deliver the same bold, honest leadership that New Yorkers already trust with their lives. Dr. Sun is running to heal this City.

As a recent cancer survivor, Calvin knows firsthand the critical need for accessible healthcare. He’s committed to using city resources to create a groundbreaking program that brings universal healthcare and preventive care directly to every doorstep in New York City. This initiative will save billions in hospital spending while dramatically improving health outcomes for all residents.
Cost of Living
Calvin knows housing is health. Too many ER visits are tied to preventable issues caused by inadequate shelter and unsafe housing. He’s committed to tackling the high cost of living with practical solutions: more affordable housing, incentives for small businesses, and fair tax policies that lift up working families.
Strengthening Our Communities
Having faced the worst of crises in the ER, Calvin is prepared to make New York City more resilient. He’ll focus on bolstering emergency preparedness, and strengthening the safety nets that New Yorkers rely on to weather tough times.
Education Access
A relentless advocate for education, Calvin will expand early childhood programs, establish tuition-free community college, financial literacy, and invest in vocational training—ensuring every New Yorker has the opportunity to thrive.
